The Chant
Kobe’s (Gateway of God) earthquake in 1993 may have released an energy that relates to the 81 temples on its nearby island, Shikoku. A monk created these structures. It was on my second visit to Japan that my Japanese hosts took me to this island.
Upon having entered Shikoku we had a ceremony at a shrine of the Rice God. Amazing clouds began then to form.
Then we continued by car and soon we witnessed a most colourful ceremonial festival at a shrine. It was the celebration of harvest. We stopped and it didn’t take long for us to be part of the scene. The name of the shrine was Orono.
We departed with small gifts. Then I wondered what the meaning was of the name Orono. My Japanese friends couldn’t translate it for me. They were puzzled themselves. So I suggested they translate the words in parts. They agreed. “‘O’ means the devil”. I said, “You mean the very beginning, the unknown, great mystery or the VOID?”. “Yes, yes, yes!”
‘RO’ means ‘understanding’. Energetically, one becoming two… I understood how the ‘O’, which correlates with the ‘small intestine’s centre coming down’ is brought up with the tongue’s ‘vibrational R’. The small intestine correlates with the Earth and thus with the ‘O’ sound we resonate to the Earth from within. From the Unknown to the Known… demystification.
‘NO’ means ‘completing school’. Coming forth from the meaning of ‘O’ and ‘RO’, ‘Orono’ means ‘Completion of Mystery School Earth’. The ‘N’ correlates with the ‘brain’s centre going up’ and opens the portal for consciousness to rise to the Source.
I understood that the Completion of the School was also the completion of the ‘Mystery the Egg’. Now it must hatch with the sound of ‘KARA’. ‘A’ also relating to the Inner-Earth, but, remaining centred, is brought up with the ‘K’ (back of the tongue) and then broken up with the ‘R’. ‘Hatching Mystery Egg Earth’!
What is hatched is the essence of the Earth experience, and it is resonated with the sound that’s centred in the brain, the ‘I’ (not the English ‘i’, but ‘ee’).
This consciousness is carried forth with the wings of the phoenix and resonates with the word ‘Taka’. The ‘A’ advances to the tip of the tongue with ‘T’ and pulls the last part of the bird with ‘KA’ towards the Eternal Portal of freedom, ‘TAWA’.
With ‘TA’ the Phoenix enters the Portal, which relates to ‘WA’. ‘W’ resonates to the ‘mouth wide open’, the ‘in-out gate’.
‘ORONO-KARA-I-TAKA-TAWA’ is the chant of the total journey, from the Dark into the Light.
We finally visited the last of the 88 temples. There was an enormous bell that had to be rung with a beam held by ropes to swing. Together we chanted the newly created one, four times while the bell was sounded.
We felt happy and decided to go back to the main island. As we were leaving the village where the last temple was built, a question entered my mind. What is the name of this village? My Japanese friends didn’t know. Then, when passing the village’s border there was a sign: ‘You are leaving TAWA village’. If this wasn’t a confirmation, then what is?!
